Getting started is easy...

Choose a qualifying PureTalk plan and either bring your own eSIM-capable device, or purchase a new one. During checkout, you’ll have the option to add a second number to your line.

Step 1

Pick any PureTalk Plan to use with your primary number.

Step 2

Whether you’d like to buy a new eSIM-compatible phone or use your current one, we’ve got you covered.

If you're buying a new smartphone or bringing your own and want to use Second Number, the main SIM in your phone can be either a physical SIM card or an eSIM (a built-in digital SIM). The phone also needs to meet the following requirements:

  • It must support Dual SIM Dual Standby (DSDS), and this feature should be turned on by default. Dual SIM Dual Standby (DSDS) is a technology that allows a phone to use two SIM cards simultaneously, but only one at a time.

Bringing your own phone? Many modern smartphones support Dual SIM Dual Standby (DSDS). Here are some popular models that are compatible:

  • iPhone
    • iPhone XS and newer (iOS 12.1 and later)
  • Samsung
    • Samsung Galaxy S21 Series and newer

We currently only support Second Number on these Apple and Samsung devices.

How to Set Up Your Second Number

Once your second number is active, follow these steps to finish setup.

How to Set Up Your Second Number on iOS

Step 1: Label Your Phone Lines
  1. Once your second number is activated, you’ll be prompted on the screen to label each line to help you tell them apart. If you DO NOT get a prompt, navigate to “Settings” and select “Set up cellular service”.
  2. You will then be prompted to follow the same steps. Your current line is labeled "Primary" by default. Tap the label if you'd like to change it. Tap on your new number to give it a custom label that’s easy to remember.
  3. These labels will help you quickly identify which line you're using.
Step 2: Choose Your Default Line for Calls & Texts
Select which number you’d like to use by default when making phone calls or sending text messages.
Step 3: Set Up iMessage & FaceTime
Decide which number(s) you want to use with iMessage and FaceTime. You can enable one or both.
Step 4: Choose Your Data Line
Pick the line you'd like to use for cellular data. Select the primary PureTalk number for your plan since it is the one with data access.
Step 5: You're All Set!
Your second number is ready to use. Start calling, texting, and enjoying the flexibility of two lines on one device.

Helpful Tips

  • When making a call, your iPhone will show which line is being used. Tap the number to switch lines if needed.
  • Starting a new text? The "From" field shows the current number. Tap it to change lines before sending.
  • You can assign a specific line to a contact. Just tap on the number shown above the contact’s name and select your preferred line.
